New Year. New Blog.

5 Jan

Greetings and Salutations friends!

It seems that every time I stop blogging, I get a different person telling me, “Do you have a blog? I would LOVE to read your blog! You should totally restart that blog!” And I question myself why I ever hung up my blogistsphere virtual pen. I think it’s because I never really felt like anyone would want to read my themeless threads and stop motion projects mixed with bizare tips and tricks with a sprinkle of healthy living and weight loss journey. haha. Apparently I was incorrect?

So I am currently working on a 3 week Sesame Street spot to teach the months of the year! It’s nice to have a lower stress project where I can just do whatever and not worry about it being the cleanest or smoothest or most innovative. Nice way to ease into the new year before I get crazy with other work!

The character is a Ringleader (below…mouth isnt sculpted yet) who announces the months of the year on a stage.

It took me about a week to pattern and sew his costume. There is wire mesh in the tails of his coat. I’m pretty happy with it. we’ve had many adventures so far.

Currently, brian and I are halfway through building the stage. We distressed the stage frame and made a hardwood floor by scoring a wooden plank. Next I’ll make the curtain with wire and aluminum paper inside to allow it to animate better. Photos of the finished set soon!

I had my animator buddy Jason come to visit and he made me a few replacement hands.

    Hi Lindsay,

I just checked out your Sesame Street spot & some of your illustrations. Nice work! I’m a clay illustrator in Toronto, and have worked on a few stop motion animation projects, mainly in Turkey, but I’ve also worked in the prop department at . I thought I would say hello, as you never know when the opportunity to collaborate might come, even if remotely. Have a look at my website and go to the links page and click on “Vimeo – Clay Animations” to look at my claymations.

    All the best!
